Summer Orientation - Frequently Asked Questions
Q. When will I receive my Orientation Confirmation?
A. Once we process your information, you will be emailed a confirmation to your BW EMail address.
Q. I am a commuter student. Do I have to stay overnight?
A. Yes, all students are required to stay overnight. Although you will not be living on campus, spending the night on campus is a great way to meet other new Baldwin Wallace students. We also try to pair up commuter students during the summer orientation sessions so you are able to meet other commuter students. Also, our Friday evening activities can go later into the evening, and we start early Saturday morning, so it's much easier to spend the night in our residence halls.
Q. Do my parents need to attend the Orientation Weekend?
A. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend the Summer Orientation weekend, however it is not required. Many students bring their parents/families, while others come on their own. It is up to you. We do have programs and information for parents and families, so if they do attend, it will be beneficial for them.
Q. May I see my residence hall room?
A. Many of our rooms are used during the summer for conferences; therefore, rooms are not available for viewing or measuring prior to check in. The Admissions Office does include a "show room" visit during campus tours.
Q. How do I find out my roommate assignment?
A. Roommate information as well as room assignments will be mailed to you over the summer.
Q. Where do my parents stay overnight?
A. Parents are welcome to stay in one of the area hotels. There is a listing on our Web site and also included in your confirmation package. Some of the hotels also have a special BW rate. Please mention that you are with BW to receive the special rate.
Q. What time will Orientation be over?
A. Check-out for Orientation begins at 10:30am on Saturday morning, although some advising appointments may go until approximately 12:00pm. You should expect to be done no later that 1:00pm.
Q. Will I have FUN at Orientation?
A. Of course! This is a great opportunity for you to not only learn more about what BW has to offer you, but it's an opportunity to meet other new students as well as current students working as Orientation Leaders. We have lots of fun activities planned throughout the weekend, including the Summer O' Dance and a haunted tour of campus. You really don't want to miss out!
