International Service Experience – Lesotho, Southern Africa
May 16-June 1, 2011
May 16-June 1, 2011
What is the International Service Experience?
Similar to OCO’s Alternative Break Program, our International Service Experience is an intense service and cultural awareness program offered every other year, usually in May. Students travel outside the country to participate in community service activities as well as engage in cultural experiences where they learn through interaction about the people in a particular area of the world.

The Issues
The 2011 International Service Experience will take place for the 4th time in the country of Lesotho, a small country in southern Africa. The major focus of the service will be education. Students will work directly with school-age children and teachers. In addition to educational activities, students will participate in smaller physical projects (i.e. painting, building, cleaning, etc.). Lesotho is a country that has been greatly affected by HIV/AIDS. There may be opportunities to work with this issue in 2011.
