Saturday of Service Community Partner Information

Each fall, the Office of Community Outreach hosts a campus-wide service day in conjunction with organizations in Berea and the Greater Cleveland area.  Students, faculty and staff come together to serve with a number of different organizations. In previous years, participants have served in a variety of ways such as cleaning, sorting food, decorating for the holidays, raking leaves and spending time with older adults at a retirement community.  We hope to continue the momentum this year by partnering with your organization to help impact our communities. This year's event will take place on November 2, 2013.

This year we are offering two shifts:  morning shift participants will serve at organizations from approximately 9:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. and afternoon shift participants will serve from approximately 1:30-4:30.  You may request volunteers for one or both shifts depending on your needs.

What is required of Saturday of Service Community Partner Organizations?

All partners must have at least one organization representative on site during the service project to provide direction to the BW participants.   We also ask that the representative helps the group understand the importance of their work by providing information about the organization and how the task the group is performing is of benefit.  And, of course, please plan plenty of work for the group.  Our partners are sometimes surprised by how much a group of energetic college students can accomplish in a few hours!
