The Baldwin-Wallace College Marching Yellow Jackets is a spirited ensemble of musicians from all areas of the B-W campus. Membership is open to anyone attending B-W. The band also includes the Jackettes, a flag/dance team that includes women representing a wide variety of majors and interests. The Marching Yellow Jackets perform at all home football games and in January of 2009 will make a trip to Florida. The band has two 2- hour rehearsals a week and also has a short rehearsal the day of a performance.
The mission of the band is to provide quality, creative musical/marching performances while serving as a catalyst for school spirit. The focus is having fun, developing pride, tradition and a sense of community for the participants.
Students are encouraged to assume leadership roles such as planning and plotting shows, serving as section leaders, librarians, etc. There are also some paid internships available for qualified Music Education Majors. The band, on the field, is under the direction of a Drum Major. An Awards Banquet is held at the completion of the marching season to recognize band members for their contributions and commitment to the B-W Marching Yellow Jackets.
The 2006 football season marked the new beginning of the Baldwin-Wallace College Marching Yellow Jackets after an absence of 35 years. Majorettes/Twirlers
The 2006 Marching Band included a feature twirler. Interested persons with experience should contact the director concerning auditions.
Awards Banquet
An Awards Banquet is held at the completion of the marching season to recognize band members for their contributions and commitment to the B-W Marching Yellow Jackets.
The Swarm
The Swarm is the pep band that performs for selected basketball game and is made up of volunteers from the marching band.
