Be careful about telemarketing tricks. If you are not interested, just say, “Sorry, but I am not interested” and hang up. Here are some very important tips:
- Be extremely careful about giving your credit card number over the phone.
- If you are interested in a telemarketing promotion but you want to know more or be sure that you did not miss anything, ask the caller to mail more information to your home.
- Ask the name, address and phone number of the organization calling you; also ask who is in charge of the organization calling you; get specific names, addresses and titles.
- Ask for the names and telephone numbers of satisfied customers around your community.
