About Cleveland

CULTURAL & ENTERTAINMENT
Greater Cleveland has one of the finest collections of cultural and entertainment resources of any city in the country. They include the world famous Cleveland Orchestra, The Cleveland Playhouse, Playhouse Square, The Cleveland Museum of Art, The Museum of Natural History and a variety of other first class arts organizations which provide a rich and diversified array of cultural attractions.

Cleveland is also a "big league" city with professional sport teams such as the Cleveland Indians baseball team, NBA Cavaliers basketball team and MISL Crunch soccer team. Cleveland is not just for the spectator.  Outdoor recreation abounds, through the Metropark System, which is considered one of the finest in the country. Lake Erie offers first class boating, sailing, and fishing. The lake front development and activities in the "FLATS," a Cuyahoga Riverfront development project, promise even greater entertainment and recreation opportunities.

NEWSPAPERS

There are three local newspapers, Berea Sun News , Cleveland Plain Dealer and Elyria Chronicle Telegram and one Baldwin-Wallace weekly newspaper, The Exponent. Free Times is a good source of social and cultural activities news.  The College Literary magazine, The Mill, contains prose, poetry and artwork contributed by students and faculty members.  The Grindstone is the Baldwin-Wallace yearbook. The Lyceum is a quarterly literary magazine containing prose, poetry, essays, etc. contributed almost exclusively by the faculty. Pursuit is published quarterly by the Office of College Relations for members of the Baldwin-Wallace College Association of Alumni, former students, and friends of the college. It contains feature articles about alumni, as well as news of the college.

Besides these local newspapers, there are the major newspapers, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times located in the stores or at Ritter Library. The Wall Street Journal is a main source of information about business in the U.S. and worldwide. Some courses require you to read The Wall Street Journal everyday.

You can either subscribe to weekly news magazines or visit Ritter Library.
