  • Program celebrated culture and diversity in its many forms
  • Program enabled participants to gain greater insight, understanding and appreciation of culture and diversity
  • Program tried to reach as many participants as possible
  • Program contributed to the mission and purpose of the organization and the University
  • Program occurred between March 21, 2014 and March 5, 2015
  • Organization must be registered with the Office of Student Activities and recognized by the University
Educational Program of the Year
  • Program sought to educate participants on a particular topic(s) -Such topics could be related to areas such as academics, social justice issues, professional development, personal development, leadership development, etc.
  • Shown evidence that learning occurred
  • Program tried to reach as many participants as possible
  • Program contributed to the mission and purpose of the organization and the University
  • Program occurred between March 21, 2014 and March 5, 2015
  • Organization must be registered with the Office of Student Activities and recognized by the University
Innovative Program of the Year
  • Introduced new ideas/activities to the campus
  • Program was primarily student initiated and had high student involvement
  • Program must not have been hosted at BW more than twice
  • Program contributed to the mission and purpose of the organization and the University
  • Program occurred between March 21, 2014 and March 5, 2015
  • Organization must be registered with the Office of Student Activities and recognized by the University
Service Program of the Year
  • Provided a service to either the BW community or the greater Cleveland community
  • Engaged as many of the organizational membership as possible
  • Program contributed to the mission and purpose of the organization and the University
  • Program encouraged students to engage in service beyond a one time experience
  • Program occurred between March 21, 2014 and March 5, 2015
  • Organization must be registered with the Office of Student Activities and recognized by the University
Social Program of the Year
  • Program promoted and encouraged positive social interaction among participants
  • Program was fun and entertaining in nature
  • Program tried to reach as many participants as possible
  • Program contributed to the mission and purpose of the organization and the University
  • Program occurred between March 21, 2014 and March 5, 2015
  • Organization must be registered with the Office of Student Activities and recognized by the University
Yellow Jacket Organization Spirit Award
  • Organization collaborates positively with other student organizations
  • Organization is supportive of other programs
  • Organization works to build school spirit and campus unity
  • Organization must be registered with the Office of Student Activities and recognized by the University

New Student Organization of the Year
(Winning organization will receive $100 towards their 2015-16 budget!)

  • Organization has been recognized at BW 3 years or less
  • Activities and events of the organization were consistent with the mission/purpose of the group
  • Goals set by the organization were accomplished or significant progress was made toward achieving those goals
  • An effort was made to expand and diversify membership
  • Opportunities were provided for members to develop and enhance leadership skills
  • Importance was placed on the scholastic achievement of organization members
  • Meaningful contributions to the BW community were made by the organization
  • Organization must be registered with the Office of Student Activities and recognized by the University

Student Organization of the Year
(Winning organization will receive $100 towards their 2015-16 budget!)

  • Previous award recipients are eligible to be nominated again, pending they meet all award criteria
