The Upward Bound Update is the quarterly newsletter of the Upward Bound Program. This publication will go out to parents, Trio Program Directors, Baldwin-Wallace College staff, Cleveland Municipal School District staff and any other organizations or individuals who want to know what’s what and who’s who in the Baldwin-Wallace College Upward Bound Program. This publication will highlight various program activities and also recognize students that have achieved milestones in both academic and extracurricular areas. This publication will motivate and show students that their achievements will not go unrecognized because they are important to the future of our society. The Investigator is also a tool that will continue to inform parents, college staff and the community about what Upward Bound offers and what the students of Upward Bound are capable of because often times their talents are overlooked because the community is not informed.
The Upward Bound Update publicizes the great things that are done by Upward Bound students and gets the message out that our students can and have achieved greatness. Often times society tries to rule Upward Bound students out and put barriers on them by using words such as “can’t”, “lost cause”, “lazy”, “unmotivated”. These words are no way to describe the students within Upward Bound because these students sacrifice a lot to better themselves and obtain a quality education. Unfortunately, this fact is only known by a select few who come in contact with Upward Bound students but the word needs to be spread. Our students are special, our students are motivated, our students can succeed, our students go the extra mile to reach goals and our students are well worth the time and effort.
