Digital Telephones

To Place a Call

  • To initiate a call, lift handset OR immediately begin dialing (phone will activate speaker automatically).
  • Internal Call: Dial extension number of party you are calling External Call: Dial 9, dial telephone number of party you are calling

Call Hold

Allows a station user to place a call in a hold state. Your call can be retrieved at your phone, or any other phone with your line appearance on it. An automatic recall to the holding station is provided for calls that exceed a predetermined time interval.

  • To Put Call on Hold, press HOLD key once. To Retrieve Call: press your flashing line appearance.

Call Park/Retrieval

Allows a station user to place a call in a hold/park state and retrieve the call from any telephone in the facility. Each call is parked in a parking zone (can be any extension number in the system). Therefore, you can park a call at your own phone, or directly at another employee's desk. If the parked call is not retrieved after a certain period of time, the call will ring back to the station that originally parked it.

  • To Park a Call: While connected to the caller, press PARK, dial the extension number you wish the call to be parked at To Retrieve Call: Press PARK, dial the extension number call is parked at.

Transfer

  • To transfer a call to another extension: While connected to the caller, press TRANSFER, dial extension you are transferring to, announce the call (optional), hang up.
  • If the extension you are transferring to is busy or does not answer, press FLASH to retrieve caller you were attempting to transfer.
  • NOTE: To transfer a call to the Attendant Console, you cannot use the TRANSFER key. While connected to caller, press FLASH, dial "0", wait for operator to answer, hang up.

Arrow Keys

Allows the station user to control the volume of the ringer, handset, and speaker. Also used to control the contrast of the display (lighter vs. darker).

Call Forwarding ... "CF-AC"

Allows calls sent to your extension to be automatically forwarded to another station. Call forwarding has the following options: All Calls, Busy/No Answer, No Answer. (See separate page for feature access codes.)

One of the feature buttons on the digital telephone is "CF-AC", which is Call Forward All Calls. This feature allows the user to forward their phone to another telephone extension.

  • To Activate: Lift handset or press SPEAKER key, press "CF-AC" button, dial extension you wish to forward to (phone display will confirm)

Call Pickup

  • DIRECTED CALL PICKUP: This feature allows you to answer any specific ringing phone. To retrieve call: press assigned access code, dial extension of ringing phone.
  • GROUP CALL PICKUP: This feature allows you to answer any ringing phone in your pickup group. To retrieve call: press GROUP PICKUP key (or assigned access code)

Conference Calls

THREE PARTY CONFERENCE:
  • You may connect up to three parties (including yourself) in a conference call.
  • While connected to original caller, press FLASH key, dial extension number or external telephone number of party you are adding & wait for them to answer, press FLASH key again to connect all three parties.

Distinctive Ringing

Station users can audibly identify the type of call ringing in. Incoming internal calls within the system have a ringing cycle of one long ring with a three second pause (repeated). Incoming external calls have a ringing cycle of two short rings followed by a two second pause (repeated).

Do Not Disturb... "DND"

This feature denies a caller access to your extension. All calls delivered to your extension will immediately ring into your associated voice mailbox, without ringing your telephone.

To Activate: press DND key (light goes on) To DeActivate: press DND key (light goes on)

Flash

This button is used by the TRANSFER function and the CONFERENCE call function. Please reference those features for details.

Headset Operation... "Headset"

This feature allows the station user to speak to a caller using a headset instead of the handset.

  • To Use Headset: Press HEADSET key (light goes on), dial number you are calling.
  • To disconnect a call you must press SPEAKER key to hang up.

Message Waiting ... "Message"

Voice mail indicator.

Mic Off

This feature only works on the true speakerphones - models DT12DS, DT24DS.

Allows the station user to turn the telephone speaker's microphone on or off. Mutes out your end of the conversation.

New Call

Disconnects current call and gives you new internal dial tone to make another call. Saves you from physically hanging up the handset between calls.

Redial

The system will redial the last outgoing number dialed from your telephone - internal or external. (Note: this feature does not work when the last number dialed was from speed dial.)

To Use: press REDIAL key

Ringer Pitch

Adjusts the ringer pitch of your telephone, from low to high. While the phone is ringing, press the RG TONE button to adjust.

Ring Over Busy

This feature allows your phone to create a muted ring when you are talking on your prime line, to let you know a call is now ringing in on your second line (and vice versa). At the initial install, this feature is activated.

  • To Turn Ring Over Busy Off: press PROGRAM key, dial 03#, press 1, press PROGRAM key. To Turn Ring Over Busy On: press PROGRAM key, dial 03#, press 2, press PROGRAM key.

Speaker/Handsfree Operation

Allows the station user to speak handsfree on the digital telephones, without lifting the handset. To return call to speaker while currently on the handset, press SPEAKER key, hang up.

Speed Dial

  • AUTODIAL: Allows automatic dialing of a number (up to 32 digits) when the appropriate Autodial (ATD) is pressed. Under each ATD key you can program one number - one touch dialing. Programmed number can be an external telephone number or internal extension number.
  • On the telephone, each ATD key is not labeled - it is "blank" so that the user can write in the destination.
  • To program: press PROGRAM key, press the appropriate blank ATD key, dial number to store, press PROGRAM key again.
  • AUTODIAL - SHIFT KEY: This feature only appears on the digital telephone model DT24DS. The ATD Shift key allows the user to assign two different destinations to one ATD button. The user shifts between "Low" and "High" while programming (to assign destination number to its position), and when calling.
    STATION SPEED DIAL: Allows the station user to program up to ten personal speed dial numbers at the telephone. Each speed dial number is assigned an entry code (0 - 9).
  • To Program: Lift handset, enter Station Speed Dial Register access code, dial entry code, dial number to be stored, wait for acceptance tone. To Call: Enter Station Speed Dial Access (use) code, dial specific entry code of number you are calling.

Volume Controls

On each multi-line display telephone is an up and down arrow button, used to control the volume levels of the following:

  • ringing volume of the phone (press buttons while phone is ringing to adjust)
  • volume of the handset (press buttons while speaking on the handset to adjust)
  • volume of the speaker (press buttons while speaking on the speaker to adjust)
  • contrast of the display (press buttons while phone is in the idle mode to adjust the level of contrast of the display)
