Information Technology

Uses for Network Accounts

Your B-W Account Provides Access To…

Yellow Jacket Portal:  The Yellow Jacket Portal is the campus intranet and provides access to all the many resources available at B-W.  The portal can be customized by each user, thereby delivering the announcements and information desired.  Discover for yourself at http://www.bw.edu/campus.

Blackboard Course Management System:  Blackboard is an academic software program dedicated to the advancement of teaching and learning through technology.  Blackboard facilitates online communication and collaboration.  All instructors have the option (and are encouraged) to “turn on” their course(s) in Blackboard, adding the online technology dimension to their classroom.  If your course instructor has activated his/her Blackboard site, it will appear on your portal page (http://www.bw.edu/campus) under “Courses In Which You Are Enrolled.”

WebMail:  Stay connected with friends, family, or classmates using B-W’s student WebMail program, accessible from the campus portal login page (http://www.bw.edu/campus) or directly at http://webmail.bw.edu.  Students are allocated 20 MB of storage space for WebMail.

WebExpress:  WebExpress is the online link to your academic records.  It allows you to register for classes (first semester freshmen must register with an advisor), add/drop classes, view your schedule and grades, monitor your degree evaluation progress, and more.   WebExpress is only available to currently enrolled students.   You will find a link to WebExpress at the top of the campus portal login page (http://www.bw.edu/campus), or connect directly at http://webadvisor.bw.edu.

Network Storage:  Students are provided 50 MB of storage space on the network H:drive.  Storing files on the network by saving them to the H:drive will allow access to the files from anywhere on campus, such as in class or in the lab, thus eliminating the need for a portable external media device.

Labs/Printing:  A B-W network account is required to use computers in the many labs across campus.  The main student computer lab (located in the Math & Computer Science Building) is open 24-hours a day.  Printing is currently free to all students in the computer labs, but is exclusively for academic purposes.
