As the need and demand for mobile computing continues to increase, full-time faculty members (tenured or tenure-track) now have the option of applying for a laptop computer instead of the desktop model typically provided to them by the College.
Each year in conjunction with the Computer Capital Budget process and based on funds available, a limited number of new laptop computers will be purchased by the IT Department for distribution to interested faculty. To be considered for this new laptop program, a faculty member should satisfy the criteria listed below and then complete an online application found on the IT Web site.
Guidelines for participation are as follow:
- The desktop computer currently issued to the faculty member is due for replacement.
- The faculty member is effectively utilizing technology in the classroom and will benefit from a mobile computing device.
The laptops issued to qualified and selected faculty applicants will remain the property of Baldwin-Wallace College and will be expected to be used for a minimum of four years.
When making application, faculty members should provide the following information:
- Ways in which they are currently using technology in the teaching and learning environment.
- Expected uses and benefits of obtaining a mobile computing device.
