Sometimes even the most careful of computer users will succumb to a virus or some other computer problem. If this happens to you and you can’t fix the problem yourself, the HelpDesk can assist you. The services provided by Information Technology are listed below. Please note that the services performed are to keep your system clean or get your software working again. IT does not provide hardware repair such as fixing monitors or repairing printers, etc..
- $60: Operating System Re-Installation PLUS Backup
Student provides operating system and driver disks. I.T. will create a backup of ONLY the “My Documents” folder, format hard drive; reload operating system; run all patches; install B-W’s antivirus software, restore backup data.
NOTE: NO OTHER APPLICATIONS ARE BACKED UP
NO THIRD-PARTY SOFTWARE IS RE-INSATLLED
- $60: Virus Scan / Removal
I.T. will remove any malware (spyware, adware) installed on the computer; install B-W’s antivirus software (or update virus definitions); install Windows updates.
Service on your computer can take up to three business days depending on the complexity of the problem. You will be called when your computer is ready to be picked up.
Desktop users: Please bring your CPU (tower) only. We do not need your power cable or any other cords. We will connect our own keyboard, mouse, monitor, etc. during diagnostics.
Laptop users: Please bring your computer and power cable. I.T. will not accept laptop bags or other materials unless we request you bring them.
