Spyware is technology that assists in gathering information about you from your computer without your knowledge or permission and sends this information to a third party (mostly advertisers). Adware typically appears in the form of an advertising banner/bar, or pop-up window, often prompting you to take a survey or indicating that you have won a prize. Clicking on these links will then download other spyware to your computer.
