Baldwin-Wallace College Officers

Richard W. Durst, MFA - President 
The eighth president of Baldwin-Wallace College, Mr. Durst brings strengths in curriculum development and review, administration, recruitment and retention planning, fund raising and facilities construction and management.   An international authority in theatre set design and the role of theatre in colleges, Durst  most recently was dean of the College of Arts and Architecture at the Pennsylvania State University, and prior to that held positions with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Minnesota, Duluth.  He is a graduate of Missouri Western State College and holds an MFA from the University of Oklahoma.  He has provided national leadership for several fine arts professional organizations and currently is executive director of the International Council of Fine Arts Deans.  He is a past president of United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) and the International Organization of Designers, Theatre Architects and Technicians.


Richard L. Fletcher, MBA - Senior Vice President
 
Mr. Fletcher earned a bachelor's degree, and MBA from Baldwin-Wallace College.  As vice president, he oversees institutional research, athletics, safety and security and external  relations for the College.  In his previous capacity as vice president for advancement, he provided the leadership for the largest capital campaign in B-W history, which raised $55 million for capital and endowment needs, surpassing the original goal of $44 million.

He is an active member of numerous professional organizations, and is frequently invited to be a presenter at conferences.  Additionally, he serves on the Board of Trustees of the Eliza Jennings Group.

 


Dr. Mary Lou Higgerson - Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College
 
A specialist in organizational communication, Dr. Higgerson is nationally respected for her work on leadership in higher education, including numerous books, articles, and presentations. Since 1990, she has conducted leadership seminars on several topics for the American Council on Education.  A native of Western Pennsylvania, she holds a bachelors degree from Clarion University, a masters degree from Central Michigan University and a Ph.D. from the University of Kansas.

Thomas Lee, MBA - Vice President for Finance and Administration
Mr. Lee received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Delaware, and an MBA from the University of Chicago. In addition to his most recent position as chief financial officer of Mercyhurst College, his experience includes 21 years with Xerox Corporation, and four years as a Naval officer and instructor at the Naval Academy Preparatory School.

Susan Dileno, MBA - Vice President for Enrollment Management
  
Ms. Dileno has a bachelor's degree from Niagara University and an MBA from Case Western Reserve University.  She came to Baldwin-Wallace from Hartwick College where she was Dean of Enrollment Management, and previously spent 11 years in admission at Case Western Reserve University.

Trina Dobberstein, Ph.D. - Vice President for Student Affairs
Ms. Dobberstein received a bachelor's degree from Luther College, and a master's degree from Bradley University, before earning her Ph. D. from Illinois State University in Educational Administration.  Prior to coming to Baldwin-Wallace College, Ms. Dobberstein served as Vice President for Student Affairs at West Virginia Wesleyan College.
Mr. William J. Spiker - Vice President for Advancement
Mr. Spiker received degrees from Mount Union College and the Ohio Northern University College of Law.  Among his experiences are positions with Mount Union College, Kent State University and Cleveland State University, where he has been a significant contributor to successes in resource development, alumni relations, marketing and public affairs. During his tenure as Executive Director of the CSU Foundation, Inc., endowment assets under management grew from $16 million to more than $40 million. 

He maintains leadership roles in professional and civic organizations, such as the Association of Governing Boards, Council for the Advancement and Support of Education Conference Committee, and the Executive Committee of the Town Hall of Cleveland.
