Football Field to be Named for Tressels

Dick, Dave and Jim Tressel returned to their alma mater on Saturday, May 8 to honor their parents, longtime B-W football coach Lee Tressel, and Eloise Tressel. The Tressel brothers provided the lead gift to replace the turf on the B-W football field which will be named Tressel Field. The occasion  coincided, appropriately enough, with Eloise Tressel’s birthday.

B-W alumni, some dressed in brown and gold…others, in Ohio State University scarlet and gray, were on hand for the unveiling of the Tressel Field nameplate. The event was a highlight of B-W’s Alumni Weekend.

Each of the brothers spoke about their parents and the family’s close ties to Baldwin-Wallace.

Dick ’70, recalled that Lee and Eloise provided exemplary examples of worthwhile living for their sons. “It was not do as I say, but do as I do,” Dick said.

Dave ’73, said that his parents were a team  “and the football field was our playground.”

Jim ’75, noted that so many people were affected by Lee and Eloise’s love. “We are better people because we learned how to love here at B-W. First and foremost, we’re Yellow Jackets.”

The gift provided part of the $2 million renovation of the stadium, which is one facet of “Transforming Lives – The Campaign for Baldwin-Wallace College.”   Also slated for upgrade are the press box, stadium locker rooms and track.
