BW and PlayhouseSquare Announce Second Collaboration
BW’s music theatre program will add another feather to its cap this spring when it presents [title of show], a new musical that recently completed a successful Broadway run.
[title of show] is the story of two nobodies named Hunter and Jeff who decide to write a completely original musical starring themselves and their attractive and talented lady friends, Susan and Heidi. The show follows Hunter and Jeff and their friends on their journey through the gauntlet of creative self-expression. In the span of 90 minutes they write and perform their show and learn lessons about themselves as people, friends and artists. The musical is, above all, a love letter to the musical theatre and to the joy of collaboration.
This production will be the first outside of New York. Eager to do the show, BW music theatre students mounted a campaign which included a YOUTube parody of another YOUTube video by Jeff Bowen and Hunter Bell, creators of [title of show]. They also traveled to New York with Victoria Bussert, director of BW’s music theatre program, to see the show and present the creators and cast with BW t-shirts. Bussert directs the BW/PlayhouseSquare production.
While the music theatre students prepare for their onstage performances, BW arts management seniors are working with PlayhouseSquare personnel to administer the business and arts education aspects of the engagement, and conduct marketing research studies.
This marks the second year that BW has collaborated with PlayhouseSquare on a production. The College will host two performances April 25, 10:30 p.m. and April 26, 7:30 p.m. The next weekend the show moves to PlayhouseSquare for performances on Friday, May 1, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, May 2, 5:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 3, 7:30 p.m.
