BW Introduces Ohio's First MBA in Sustainability
A new two-year MBA in Sustainability program being offered at Baldwin Wallace University will help businesses and managers develop innovative solutions that respect the environment, enhance public policy and increase profits.
It is the first MBA in Sustainability in Ohio.
"The MBA in Sustainability at Baldwin Wallace University teaches students how to bring sustainable practices to the business world by developing innovative solutions that respect the environment, enhance public policy and increase profits," David Krueger, professor of business and director of the Institute for Sustainable Business Practice, said. "Building on the distinctive BW MBA, students will 'learn by doing' as they study the ways businesses incorporate sustainable practices into product design and manufacture, supply-chain relationships, marketing, customer relationships and operational efficiencies."
The length of the MBA program is two years with a minimum of 37 credit hours. For more information, call 440-826-2392 or visit www.bw.edu/academics/bus/programs/smba/.
The MBA in Sustainability builds upon the academic leadership position that BW is creating on campus and within the region. BW launched Ohio's first undergraduate major in sustainability in 2008 and has incorporated many sustainable practices in the college’s everyday operations, such as the installment of geothermal heating and cooling systems, an industrial-scale waste composting program, campus-wide recycling, and the construction of a wind turbine.
BW hosts the annual Sustainability Symposium that attracts hundreds of participants and world-renowned speakers and also launched the Institute for Sustainable Business Practice, which serves as a resource to help businesses integrate sustainable practices within their own operations. BW's sustainability program recently received $100,000 from the Cleveland Foundation for the Sustainability Plan Clinic.
