Comedy, Noises Off, to Play at BW

With entrances and exits through a multitude of doors, unpredictable situations, madcap characters and an inexhaustible supply of sardines, it’s no wonder that Noises Off is often dubbed “a comic masterpiece.”

Ever wonder what goes on behind the curtain? Baldwin Wallace University invites you to find out in the fast-paced, hilarious production of Michael Frayn’s classic, Noises Off, a play about the making of a play April 23 through 28. Directed by Jack Winget, performed by a versatile cast of BW theatre and music theatre students and with melodic pre-show entertainment by Stuart Raleigh, the production will deliver a laugh-out-loud experience.

This classic English comedy is really two plays for the price of one: a final dress rehearsal of a farce called “Nothing’s On” and the angst that develops backstage at the Municipal Theater in not-so-jolly-old-England.

“If you have never been part of the magical process of theatre rehearsal or performance, you will be deliciously surprised and entertained watching how a theatre company stumbles, bumbles, laughs and cries while stoically proving that ‘the show must go on,’” said Winget.

Seven Show Run at the John Patrick Theatre

BW will stage the play at the John Patrick Theatre in the Kleist Center for Art & Drama, located at 95 East Bagley Road in Berea, from Tuesday, April 23 to Saturday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee performance on Sunday, April 28 at 2 p.m.

The play features minor adult situations, but is suitable for family entertainment.

Tickets are $10 each, $5 for students and seniors; Call the Kleist Box Office at 440-826-2240.
