Concert Spotlights Original Music & Dance

The innovative collaboration titled, “fyoō zh ən ‘13: new music + dance,” will feature the work of student composers and choreographers, who unite to produce original music and dance that promises to push boundaries.

This annual dance event will be performed at Baldwin Wallace University on February 28 - March 2 at 7:30 p.m. and March 3 at 2 p.m. Performances are open to the public and take place at John Patrick Theatre, Kleist Center for Arts and Drama, 95 East Bagley Road, Berea.

Musical styles will range from classical to contemporary to electronic. To keep up with these diverse genres of music, the dance styles will include jazz, modern and contemporary ballet. This event highlights the talents of more than 30 student dancers, along with 10 student composers from various departments in the Conservatory, and eight student choreographers.

The unique experience allows the students to be in complete control of their work, with artistic reign over every aspect of the piece, from music to lighting, costuming to movement.

The resulting dance performance is sure to be an innovative and memorable experience. Tickets, available at the Kleist Box Office, are priced at $10, with a discounted price of $5 for seniors and non-BW students; BW students free with ID. For more information visit
