In The Event of Inclement Weather
Holding the ceremony in the stadium allows graduates to bring as many family members and friends as they wish, however, in the event of rain or unsafe conditions (ex.- lightning) the event may be moved indoors to Ursprung Gymnasium.
In the case of inclement weather the commencement will be held in the Ursprung Gymnasium, located inside the Lou Higgins Center, on Bagley Rd. (across from Finnie Stadium.)
If the weather forces activities indoors, the B-W homepage (www.bw.edu) and the B-W Information Telephone Line (440-826-2330) will post this announcement as soon as the decision to hold the ceremony indoors has been made that morning (generally by around 10 a.m.) The flags outside Finnie Stadium would also be lowered to half-staff if the ceremony is to be indoors.
Fire code dictates the maximum number allowed in an indoor location, therefore, graduates must remember to obtain their tickets prior to the day of graduation at the Registrar's Office. The number of tickets allowed each graduate depends on the size of the graduating class, and is usually 6 tickets. Again, tickets are only necessary in the event of rain or unsafe conditions outdoors.
Extra tickets can be claimed on the Friday before commencement at 3:00 p.m. in the Office of College Relations, room 202, in the Bonds Administration Bldg. Students may claim a maximum of two extra tickets. Students must present their college I.D. to claim tickets. If a senior cannot be present to claim tickets, he or she may give their I.D. to a friend to pick them up. If a student needs more than two extra tickets, we recommend arranging to use a classmate's extra tickets. If you have questions, please call the Office of College Relations at 440-826-2325.
