The Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory of Music presents Robert Mayerovitch, piano, in a faculty recital on Sunday, Jan. 29 at 4 p.m. in the Kulas Musical Arts Building, 96 Front Street, Berea. The concert is free and open to the public.
The performance will include Robert Schumann's "Fantaisies et finale" and their reincarnation as "Etudes symphoniques, Op. 13."
Mayerovitch, in addition to performing extensively in the U.S. and Canada as a recitalist, chamber musician, accompanist and soloist with orchestra, has studied with and assisted Menahem Pressler of Indiana University and the Beaux Arts Trio. He is an active lecturer and has presented his favorite topic, "Rules of Pianists' (and Other Animals') Thumbs," at national, state, and local conventions. He is the recipient of numerous performing awards including: winner of the Bartok-Kabalevsky International Piano Competition; first prize in the National Competition of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation; the Montreal Symphony Competition; the Indiana University Doctoral Concerto Competition; and the grand prize in the Quebec Music Festivals.
