"Creators, Innovators and Dreamers," an art exhibition showcasing the award-winning work of Baldwin-Wallace College faculty members Roberta Williamson and Stephanie Craig and 18 other 2011 Creative Workforce Fellows, will run from Tuesday-Friday, Sept. 6-30, in the B-W's Fawick Gallery, Kleist Center for Art & Drama, 95 E. Bagley Rd., Berea. An opening reception will be held on Sept. 9 from 5-8 p.m.
Both Williamson and Craig were recognized for their exceptional talent as artists by the Community Partnership for Arts and Culture (CPAC). As 2011 Creative Workforce Fellows, they each received $20,000, a one-year membership to the COSE Arts Network, tuition to the Artist as an Entrepreneur Institute and inclusion in a catalogue showcasing the winners' work.
Williamson has been with B-W for 15 years and teaches two-dimensional design, jewelry and metalsmithing. Among her many honors, she has received 11 Ohio Arts Council Fellowships and Best of Show at the prestigious Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show. This month, her artwork is being featured in the exhibit, "Buds, Blooms and Berries," at the Everhart Museum of Natural History, Science and Art in Scranton, Pa. Along with her husband David, her artistic partner and a professor of art at B-W, her work has appeared in over a hundred public and private collections, including the Smithsonian Museum of Art, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, the White House and more.
Craig teaches black and white photography and two-dimensional design. Having received several accolades for her work as an artist, Craig maintains a ceramics studio, Hectic Studio, in Cleveland with her husband and fellow artist Todd Leech. She recently returned from a six-week artists' residency in Denmark, which was funded by CPAC fellowship. This fall, Craig will exhibit new works from the Specimen Collection Series at Montgomery College, Rockville, MD.
CPAC, with the support of Cuyahoga Arts and Culture, has invested in greater Cleveland's leading artists through the Creative Workforce Fellowship program. Fellows were selected among hundreds of artists in Cuyahoga County for being integral partners in sharing and shaping the story of this region, pushing boundaries with their passion, vision and skill, and provoking thought and understanding within the community.
B-W's Fawick Gallery is free and open to the public Monday through Friday from 2-5 p.m. and by appointment. For directions to the gallery, visit http://www.bw.edu/quickfacts/directions/kleist.
