Bluso Receives 2011 Women of Achievement Award

For her exemplary leadership qualities, Linda Bluso, newly appointed chair of Baldwin Wallace University’s Division of Business Administration, received the YWCA Greater Cleveland’s 2011 Women of Achievement Award.

Now in its 35th year, the YWCA presents this award, one of the most prestigious honors for women in Cleveland, to outstanding women who demonstrate excellence, accomplishments and commitment in their careers and communities. These women act as mentors and role models and have played significant roles in helping other women to succeed in their careers.

"We are delighted for Ms. Bluso and this recognition of her commitment to service,” Richard Durst, President of Baldwin Wallace University, said. “Even in her short time at Baldwin Wallace, we recognize what a wonderful example she sets for all to emulate."

In addition to leading one of Ohio’s largest business programs at Baldwin Wallace, a role she began this past April, Bluso is Of Counsel with Brouse McDowell, Co. LPA. Prior to BW, she was partner-in-charge of Brouse McDowell's Cleveland office, which she served for the past five years.

Previously, she served for 19 years as one of the named and founding partners of the law firm formerly known as Buckley, King & Bluso. She graduated magna cum laude from Cleveland State University, where she earned her J.D. from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1982.

Smart Business Cleveland named Bluso as one of the top-five women executives and she is featured in the Corporate Law section of Best Lawyers 2011. She also was recognized as a Leading Lawyer by Inside Business, an honor presented to the top one percent of northeast Ohio attorneys, and she was named COSE’s 2007 Volunteer of the Year.

Active in the broader community, she served on the Ohio Department of Development’s Financing Advisory Council from 1998-2007 and served on Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson’s Finance-Assessments and Licenses Action Team in Phase II of the Operations Efficiency Task Force. She currently is chair of In Counsel With Women, an organization of women achieving the highest levels in their professional and community lives, and the 2010-11 Cleveland Metro Lead for the American Heart Association’s Nationwide Executive Leadership Team for Workplace Giving.

In board leadership and volunteer roles, Bluso has served the Greater Cleveland Partnership, the Council of Smaller Enterprises, the American Red Cross Cleveland Chapter, Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, the Union Club and others. She also is a 2003 alumna of Leadership Cleveland.
