- The College has awarded more than 6600 semester hours from many academic areas including business administration, communication, and computer science, to name a few.
- Credit hours earned through Prior Learning Assessment vary but average approximately 10 credit hours in recent years.
Prior Learning Assessment Portfolio:
Life/Learning Review
After completing 6 credits of course work at Baldwin-Wallace, students may enroll in a two-credit course, COL 163, Prior Learning Assessment. The purpose of this class is to help students identify and evaluate the relationship between their experiential learning and B-W’s academic curriculum.
With the guidance and assistance of course instructors, students learn how to organize and evaluate their experiences into groups of knowledge and begin writing what will become a carefully articulated document of personal achievements that equate to college level learning.
Research and review are a significant part of the portfolio process. In developing the portfolio, you must illustrate a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter covered in each requested course. Students must also supply support documentation such as seminars and training, recommendations, personal library or associated readings, business plans and reports and so on.
The portfolio is submitted to the appropriate academic department for determination of credit.
