Tips for Completing the FAFSA

Before filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov, you should first request a PIN number. For Dependent students, at least one parent must apply for a pin number to complete the electronic application.  You can apply for this PIN number at http://www.pin.ed.gov

For most students, the FAFSA will be the only requirement for financial aid. A small percentage of all FAFSAs filed will be selected for a process called verification. If your FAFSA is selected for verification, we will request additional information from you before the federal, state, and institutional financial aid on your Award Letter can be finalized. (Returning students: verification must be complete before you can receive your initial Award Letter.)

    • Save frequently using the "Save" button at the bottom of the screen.
    • To clear your form, use the "Exit" button. Proceed with caution - selecting this button and then clicking on "ok" will erase every answer you've given.
    • Don't use the navigation buttons on your browser (back, forward, reload, stop). Only use the "Next" and "Previous" buttons at the bottom of each page.
