Private Education Loans

The Office of Financial Aid works with lenders and loan servicing agencies to provide BW students and their families with education financing options, including private education loans. The basic terms and conditions of private education loans vary from lender to lender and we encourage all borrowers to review and evaluate each program. When researching education financing, federal funds should always be considered first.

Please know that you have the right to borrow through the lender of your choice and you are not limited to those included through the Private Education Loan Selection Tools.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to federal regulations, it may take 4 to 6 weeks for you to receive funds from a private education loan, once you have filed an application for the loan.

Once you and your family have considered Baldwin Wallace University federal loan options, you can use the Ohio Private Loan Marketplace to instantly and accurately compare rates and terms from multiple private loan lenders side-by-side. This will help you make an informed decision about the most appropriate loan for you. The Marketplace displays products from local and national lenders, complete with detailed listings of APRs, interest rates, total cost, monthly payments, borrower benefits, fees and repayment options.

Ohio Private Loan Marketplace - (Since this loan selection tool is based on a credit report, it's important for borrowers to read "How It Works".)

Marketplace Private Lender Disclosure Information - Information on terms and current interest rates, fees, etc.

Private Education Self-Certification Form - Congress has recently mandated that private loan lenders require borrowers to complete a Private Education Loan Applicant Self-Certification Form when requesting private education loans. (Many of the private lenders include the self-certification form as part of the application process, since this form must be completed by the borrower and submitted to the lender.)
