"I have been able to broaden my horizons both as a leader and a professional during my time at Baldwin Wallace.  I served as President of the school's education club, Teaching Together, and as Vice President for my sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha, gaining the skill to time manage and have confidence in myself.  The education program provided me with a strong training as well as experience with a variety of placements, ranging from 1st through 5th grade, with many wonderful teachers.  My time here at Baldwin Wallace prepared me for the professional world's expectations, which I carried with me to my interview in Chicago Last month.  I accepted a position with AUSL in Chicago, IL, and am incredibly excited to begin working in July! Baldwin Wallace made this opportunity possible."

"During my four years at BW, I gained so much knowledge and advice, not only from professors, but from my advisors, peers, and Career Services.  The numerous hours spent learning about real-life experiences that related to my field of study helped me gain internships and make networking connections.  I would not have found this job right out of college had it not been for the exceptional help I received on my resume, cover letter, and overall interviewing process.  I would recommend taking full advantage of everything BW has to offer!"

Jaclyn Lee

JaclynMajor:  Accounting
Minor:  Entrepreneurship
Degree/Grad Year:  Master of Business Administration in Accounting & Bachelor of Arts, May 2012
Position Title/Organization:  Audit Assistant - Deloitte & Touche LLP

"I couldn't have asked for a better college experience that would lead me to my first job in accounting at a Big Four CPA firm. Having taken my first accounting class as a freshman in high school and loved it, I decided to major in accounting in college with hopes of one day becoming a certified public accountant and work for a public accounting firm, a Fortune 500 company, or nonprofit foundation. I couldn't imagine that five years after entering BW I would accomplish my goal just has I had planned. I loved the challenge of learning accounting and I had wonderful professors who not only taught me well but also advised me and supported my future aspirations. During junior year I was accepted into BW's 3/2 accounting MBA program and began taking graduate classes the fall of my senior year. Gaining practical experience through internships during college has also prepared me for my future career. After my first successful internship with Deloitte, I was invited back for a second internship with the firm and received a full-time job offer the summer before starting my fifth and final year at BW. Without having great professors to support me, polished networking skills that I learned from the Career Services advisors, or confidence in myself and determination to perform well at my internships, I would never have been able to accomplish my goals. I now have a great career to look forward to."

"My experience at BW was overwhelmingly positive in both academics and athletics.  I played Free Safety for BW's football team for four years, and was fortunate enough to acquire a coaching internship while finishing my degree in Exercise Science.  Tom Watts, my former coach and Internship Coordinator, was hired as Ohio Wesleyan's Head Football Coach in December 2011.  After he was hired, he offered me the opportunity to coach the position I played while at BW.  I cannot put into words how excited I am about this next step in my life.  I am very thankful to have such a promising opportunity so early in my professional career."

Amy Ballash

Major:  Psychology
Minor:  Child & the Family
Undergraduate Degree/Grad Year:  Bachelor of Science, 2009
Graduate Degree/Grad Year:  Master of Education in School Counseling, Kent State University, 2011

"After graduating from Baldwin-Wallace in 2009 with a Bachelor's in Psychology, I went on to pursue a Master of Education in School Counseling. The education, experience and professional skills that I gained from my years at BW gave me an extra edge as a graduate student in the classroom, and then again when I landed my first full-time position just one month after graduating from my Master's program. I worked as an Enrollment Advisor with a for-profit education institution for a year, and then decided I wanted to be able to use my degrees more fully and for my original intent.  I contacted BW Career Services to help with my job search.  The BW Career Advisor gave my resume and cover letter the pieces that I had been missing, and within a month I accepted not only a new position but one in my desired field.  In my experience achieving both of those things in the current economic times is not an easy task.  I was beyond relieved to know that I could come back to my beloved Alma Mater for the help that I needed."

"I would have never been prepared to graduate and apply for jobs without all the help from Career Services. Early on I prepared my resume for applying for internships and was lucky enough to have a number of different opportunities while at BW. Everything I learned at my internships, I was able to apply to the job I have now, and made the interview process much easier because I was able to capitalize on my past experience. By attending as many networking events as possible, I was able to connect with Cleveland professionals who in the end helped me find jobs when I was ready to graduate."

"Baldwin-Wallace College has done an outstanding job of building a network of support for students both while earning their degree and after.  I found that there was not any adversity that the staff was not willing to help me face and work through together.  From guidance with scheduling course work, to help with interviewing and resume skills, and everything in between, I never felt alone.  I felt like I was part of a team that really was invested in my success, not just as a student, but in my life.  I found it very comforting to know that no matter what I faced, I had people behind me that would go above and beyond to help me achieve my goals.  Thanks to the staff there I now have my dream job teaching in the Bahamas."

Daniel Paterline

Double Major:  Business Administration and Human Resource Management
Degree/Grad Year:  Bachelor of Arts, 2011
Position Title/Organization:  Corporate Recruiter - MRI Software

"My four years at BW were undoubtedly the most exciting and most important years of my life.  Being a student-athlete gave me the opportunity to not only learn and grow in the classroom, but the opportunity to represent the school in a positive way and learn so many life lessons that make me who I am today.  The challenge with being a student-athlete though was finding the time to get that real-world experience through an internship that employers seek when looking for quality candidates.  As my senior football season was coming to an end, I knew that this was my last chance to gain this kind of experience before looking for full-time positions as graduation was fast approaching.  I utilized many of the resources through Career Services like attending workshops, posting my resume and applying for internships through the BW Career Network, and attending the annual Career & Internship Expo.  Utilizing all of these tools paid off for me in the end as I found an internship on the Career Network website with MRI Software, met with representatives of the company two days later at the Career Expo, and was interviewing within a week.  I was offered and accepted the internship and interned with MRI during my final semester as a senior and turned full-time immediately after graduation.  All of my academic, athletic, and internship experiences during my time at Baldwin Wallace have gotten me to where I am today and for that I am truly grateful to the school and proud to call myself an alumnus."
