BW Women's Tennis Team Loses at Mount Union, 5-4

ALLIANCE, OHIO -- The defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion Baldwin Wallace University women’s tennis lost at host the University of Mount Union, 5-4, today (Friday, April 2, 2012) at the Mount Union Courts. The Yellow Jacket loss ended a two-match winning streak.

With its loss, BW is now 6-10 overall and 1-2 in the OAC. Mt. Union is 9-4 overall and 2-0 in the OAC.
BW gained an early 2-1 lead after the doubles competition, but Mt. Union won four of the six singles matches. The match came down to fifth singles. With the match score tied at 4-4, Mt. Union’s Courtney Adamsky bested Yellow Jacket sophomore Whitney Yoder (Medina/ Senior) by the scores of 7-5 and 7-6 with a 10-8 tie-breaker to give the Purple Raiders the victory.
In doubles action for BW, the number two tandem of senior Jenny Greene (Worthington/ Thomas Worthington) and junior Danielle Rueger (Ashland/ Senior) won by an 8-3 score and the No.3 duo of Yoder and senior Emily Brown (Vermilion) won by an 8-4 count. In singles play for the Yellow Jackets, Greene won at No.1 by the scores of 6-4 and 6-4 and Rueger won at No.4 by the scores of 6-4 and 7-5.
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Tuesday, April 10 when they travel to Columbus, Ohio to play Capital University at 3:30 p.m. The next home match is Wednesday, April 11 when BW hosts NCAA Division II Tiffin University at the “Pop” Collins Courts in Berea at 3:30 p.m.
