BW Women’s Tennis Team Beats Muskingun, 9-0

BEREA, OHIO -- The defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion Baldwin Wallace University women’s tennis defeated visiting Muskingum University, 9-0, today (Saturday, March 31) inside the Lou Higgins Recreation Center. The match was moved indoors due to inclement weather outdoors.

With its victory, BW is now 5-9 overall and evens its OAC record at 1-1. With their loss, the Fighting Muskies fell to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in the league. This was BW’s 23rd straight win versus Muskingum.
BW gained an early 3-0 lead after the doubles competition and won all six singles matches.
In doubles action, the number one tandem of junior Rebecca Mittler (Elyria/ Elyria Catholic) and sophomore Morgan Baker (Vermilion/ Elyria Catholic) won by an 8-0 score, the No.2 duo of senior Jenny Greene (Worthington/ Thomas Worthington) and junior Danielle Rueger (Ashland) won by 8-1 score and the No.3 team of sophomore Whitney Yoder (Medina) and senior Emily Brown (Vermilion) were victorious by an 8-6 score.
In singles play they played pro sets, Greene won 8-0 at No.1, Mittler won 8-1 at No.2, Baker won 8-5 at No.3, Rueger won 8-0 at No.4, Yoder won 9-7 at No.5 and junior Anna Callahan (Williamsville, N.Y. /Clarence Central) won at No.6 by the scores of 8-0.
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Monday, April 2 when they travel to Wooster, Ohio to play The College of Wooster at 3:30 p.m.
