BW Women’s Tennis Team Loses to Kenyon, 9-0, in Gambier

GAMBIER, OHIO -- The defending Ohio Athletic Conference champion Baldwin Wallace University women’s tennis team lost to Division III national powerhouse Kenyon College, 9-0, today (Friday, March 23, 2012).
With its loss, BW is now 4-8 overall. Kenyon improved to 6-5 overall.
Kenyon gained a 3-0 lead in doubles and then won all six singles matches to claim its sixth victory of the season.
Heading into tomorrow’s match at Otterbein, BW senior No.2 singles standout Jenny Greene (Columbus/ Thomas Worthington) will seek her 100th career combination victory. She currently owns a 99-83 career mark, stands tied for 12th all-time in school history with 47 singles wins and has a 47-41 career mark. In doubles play, she is tied for eighth all-time with 52 wins and a 52-42 career slate. In addition, junior No.1 singles standout Rebecca Mittler (Elyria/Elyria Catholic) is 23rd all-time in singles play with 33 wins and a 33-29 career mark. She is 21st all-time in doubles wins with 38 and is 38-29 all-time in doubles matches.
Following its two matches in Greater Columbus, the Yellow Jackets return to Berea and play their first home match on Saturday, March 31 when they host Muskingum University on the “Pop” Collins Courts at 1:00 p.m.
