Baldwin Wallace University Women’s Tennis Team Defeats Case Western Reserve University, 8-1, in Berea
BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin Wallace University women’s tennis team defeated Case Western Reserve University, 8-1, today (Monday, March 31, 2008) at the “Pop” Collins Tennis Complex in Berea. With the win, BW improved to 5-6 overall and won its third straight match. With the loss, Case dropped to 1-6.
In singles play, senior number one player Tiffany Allison (Chagrin Falls/ Kenston), freshman No.3 player Caitlyn Pecinovsky (Whitehall/ Columbus Bishop Hartley), freshman No.4 player Emily Pelosi (Uniontown/ Green) all won in straight sets. Junior No. 5 player Alyssa Trampert (Orchard Park N.Y./Orchard Park) won in three sets and sophomore No. 6 player Alisha Shivers (East Liverpool) won by default.
In doubles play, the No.1 duo of senior Meggie Glassburn (Canton/ Jackson) and Allison, the No.2 tandem of Pecinovsky and senior Krista Marshall (Medina/Senior) and the No.3 duo of freshman Katy Marshall (Medina/Senior) and sophomore Andrea Essig (Conneaut) all won.
The next BW women’s tennis match and the first Ohio Athletic Conference match for the Yellow Jackets is scheduled for Tuesday, April 1 as BW will host John Carroll University at 3:30 p.m. at the “Pop” Collins Tennis Complex in Berea.
