Isaac Sets Career Win Record as B-W Women's Tennis Team Defeats Westminster (Pa.), 9-0

BEREA, OHIO -- Senior number one singles player Andrea Isaac (New Philadelphia) set the Baldwin-Wallace College school-record for career singles victories as the Yellow Jacket women's tennis team defeated Westminster (Pa.) College, 9-0, today (Wednesday, March 7, 2007) in the first of two dual matches on the final day of its annual spring break trip to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

With her 6-0 and 6-1 straight set victory against Westminster's Dana Larson, Isaac won her 73rd career match to surpass Thersa Olenick's (1994-97) previous school singles victory mark of 72. Isaac already owns school records for doubles wins and combination (singles plus doubles) wins. Isaac is the reigning Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year. She also won the award as a freshman.

With its win against Westminster, B-W improves to 7-0 in dual matches this season, including a 6-0 mark in Hilton Head. B-W plays its final match on the trip this evening when it faces Palm Beach Atlantic (Fla.) University at 6:00 p.m.

In addition to Isaac, freshman No. 2 player Britney Shy (Euclid), junior No. 3 player Tiffany Allison (Chagrin Falls/ Kenston), junior No. 4 player Meggie Glassburn (Canton/ Jackson), junior No. 5 player Krista Marshall (Medina/ Senior)  and freshman No. 6 player Andrea Essig (Conneaut/ Ashtabula Edgewood) all secured wins in singles play.

In doubles play, the No. 1 tandem of Allison and Shy, No. 2 Isaac and Glassburn and the No. 3 duo of freshman Katy Wilson (Wadsworth) and Alisha Shivers (East Liverpool) all won.

B-W opens northern play on March 17 with a doubleheader in Canton, Ohio. B-W plays at Malone College at 9:00 a.m. and then faces Walsh University at 2:00 p.m.
