Baldwin-Wallace College Women's Soccer Team Defeats Pitt-Greensburg (Pa.), 4-1

BEREA, OHIO --  The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team won their second straight game by defeating the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg, 4-1, today (September 13) in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.

With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 4-1 overall and will face Greater Cleveland cross-town and nonleague rival Case Western Reserve in their home opener this Saturday Sept. 16  at 7:00 p.m. in The George Finnie Stadium. 

After falling behind 1-0 in the first 11 minutes, B-W tied the score just before the half at 1-1 at the 37:54 mark when junior midfielder Allie Wojtkun (North Olmsted/Magnificat) scored the first goal of the contest for the Yellow Jackets. The goal was assisted by senior three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference forward Jenny Miller (North Ridgeville). The game went into the intermission tied at 1-1.

In the second half, B-W gained the lead when senior Kristi Michaels (Aurora) found Wojtkun  who scored for the second time in the game at the 42:27 mark. B-W then took a 3-1 lead at the 53:42 mark when  Miller scored her 32nd career goal off of a double assist from senior All-OAC defender Melissa Herd (Stow) and senior All-OAC midfielder Ashley Belardo (North Royalton). The Yellow Jackets advanced their lead to 4-1 when sophomore Academic All-OAC defender Amanda Lawrentz (Mansfield/Ashland Crestview) scored her first career collegiate goal at the 78:31 mark. The goal was assisted by junior midfielder Jamie Saathoff (Wadsworth).

In goal, junior 2005 OAC Goalie of the Year Michelle Neff (Strongsville) earned the win as she faced eight total shots, including one shot on goal, and had no saves.  Neff has allowed just five goals in five games this season (a 1.07 goal-against-average).
