BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team shut out Tri-State (Ind.) University, 3-0, yesterday (Sept. 2) and beat Buffalo State (N.Y.) College, 1-0, today (Sept. 3) to win the four-team Tri-State University Tournament in Angola, Indiana.
The Yellow Jackets scored the lone goal of the day at the 53:59 mark of the second half when freshman midfielder Stephanie Geiger (Berea) scored her first career goal off an assist from senior three-time All-OAC forward Jenny Miller (North Ridgeville).
In goal, junior 2005 OAC Goalie of the Year Michelle Neff (Strongsville) was solid as she faced six total shots, including three on-goal, and made three saves en route to her 12th career shutout.
Against Buffalo State, B-W outshot their opponent, 6-9, and outcornered them, 4-0. For the season, the Yellow Jackets have outshot their opponents, 49-8, and outcornered them, 11-1.
With its win, the Yellow Jackets are 2-0 and are now idle until next weekend, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 8-9 when they travel to Anderson, Indiana to play Anderson University on Friday at 3:00 p.m. and then travel to Adrian, Michigan to play Adrian College on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
