BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women’s soccer team lost to Ohio Athletic Conference rival Otterbein College, 3-0, today (Saturday, October 11, 2008) in Westerville.
The Yellow Jackets fall to 5-4-3 overall and 2-1-0 in the OAC. The Cardinals improve to 9-1-1 overall and 2-1-0 in the OAC.
Otterbein gained the lead at the 14:55 mark of the first half when Carly Dent scored from the sideline on a Cristen Herold assist from a corner kick. Megan Cooper extended the Cardinals’ lead to 2-0 at the 25:14 mark when she scored unassisted off a deflection from the goalie. At the 86:57 mark, Lindsey Rudibaugh scored unassisted to make the final score 3-0.
In goal for B-W, sophomore Becky Miner (Berea) played all 90 minutes and faced 20 Cardinal shots and made six saves. Her season record stands at 5-4-3.
Otterbein won the battle of shots, 20-4, and corner kicks, 11-0.
After 12 matches in 2008, the Yellow Jackets are led in scoring by junior forward Natalie Fox (Canfield), who has three goals and one assists for seven total points. Senior midfielder Allie Wojtkun (North Olmsted/ Magnificat) and sophomore midfielder Vickie Dreiling (Boardman/Cardinal Mooney) also have three goals and freshman forward Brittany Thomas (Westerville/ Central) has two goals and two assists - giving all three six points in 2008.
B-W returns to action on Tuesday, October 14 when it travels to Ada, Ohio to take on Ohio Athletic Conference rival Ohio Northern University at 4:00 p.m.
