-- The Baldwin-Wallace College women’s soccer team defeated Westminster College, 2-0, today (Saturday, September 22, 2007) in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. The victory was B-W’s second straight.With its victory, B-W is now 6-3 overallwhile Westminster falls to 5-2-2 overall. Earlier this week, B-W beat Hiram College, 3-1.
The Yellow Jackets got on the scoreboard early at the 56-second mark when freshman Linsey Clapacs (Willoughby Hills/ South) scored her third goal of the season with anassist from All-Ohio Athletic Conference midfielder Allie Wojtkun (North Olmsted/ Magnificat). The score remained 1-0 at halftime.
Early in the second half, at the 56:00 mark, sophomore Stephanie Geiger (Berea) scored her first goal of the season with an assist from Wojtkun and B-W had its insurance goal en route to its sixth triumph of 2007.
In goal, senior three-time All-OAC netminder Michelle Neff (Strongsville) faced nine shots, including four on goal. She was credited with making seven saves en route to her fourth fourth shutout of the season and the 18th in her career.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 26 when they travel to Grove City, Pennsylvania to play the Grove City College Wolverines at 4:30 p.m. B-W opens OAC play next Saturday, Sept. 29 when it travels to Alliance to play Mount Union College in the first game of a women’s and men’s doubleheader at 4:30 p.m. The men kickoff at 7:00 p.m.
