BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team fell, 2-1, to Wilmington College in an Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal match tonight (Tuesday, October 30, 2007) at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea.
With the loss, B-W ends the season at 11-6-3 overall. With the win, Wilmington improves to 13-5-2 and will play No. 1 seed Ohio Northern University at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday (Nov. 1) at the ONU Soccer Field in Ada.
In the first half, Wilmington took a 1-0 advantage when Jackie Borda scored off a deflection at the 19:02 mark.
In the second half, Wilmington added an insurance goal when Nicky Fey scored an unassisted goal at the 70:18 mark. Then, at the 88:39 junior midfielder Allie Wojtkun (North Olmsted/Magnificat) scored an unassisted goal on a well struck shot from 25 yards out to cut Wilmington's lead to 2-1. But the Quakers killed the final 1:20 remaining on the clock to achieve the victory and advance to the OAC Tournament semifinals.
In goal, senior two-time All-OAC player Michelle Neff (Strongsville) played all 90 minutes and recoredseven saves while giving up two goals.
