BEREA, OHIO — The Baldwin-Wallace College women’s soccer team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Muskingum College, 1-0, today (October 20, 2007) at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea, Ohio.
With the win, the Yellow Jacket women are now 11-4-2 overall and stay unbeaten in the OAC at 5-0-2. With the victory, they clinched a spot in the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament and remain in third place in the conference standings with 17 points. With the loss, Muskingum falls to 6-9-1 overall and 1-5-0 in the OAC.
B-W won the battle of shots, 13-1, and corner kicks, 7-0
After a scoreless first half B-W got on the scoreboard when freshman midfielder Linsey Clapacs (Willoughby Hills/South) scored in the 68th minute off an assist from freshman forward Vickie Dreiling (Boardman/Cardinal Mooney). The goal ended up being the game winning goal as both team couldn't find the goal over the following 22 minutes
In goal, Yellow Jacket senior two-time All-OAC player Michelle Neff (Strongsville) played all 90 minutes recording one save and earning her ninth shutout of the year and the 23rd of her brilliant four-year career. Neff's ninth shutout ties the school single-season record set by Jamie Baringer in 1996 and tied by Neff in 2005. She is second on B-W’s all-time list for shutouts.
The Yellow Jackets continue OAC play on Tuesday (Oct. 23) when they travel to Ada to play OAC-leading Ohio Northern University at 3:00 p.m.
