With its win, B-W is now10-4-1 overall. With its loss, Marietta is now 7-5-1 overall and 2-3 in the OAC.
The Yellow Jackets are playing their best soccer of the season right now. The B-W women also recorded its fourth straight season with 10 or more victories, are 4-0-1 in its last five games and 6-1-1 in its last eight.
The Yellow Jackets gained a 1-0 lead at the 26:56 mark of the first half when freshman forward Linsey Clapacs (Willoughby Hills/ South) scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season off an assist from senior midfielder Jamie Saathoff (Wadsworth). The score remained 1-0 at halftime.
In the second half, B-W added an insurance goal when freshman forward Vickie Dreiling (Boardman/ Youngstown Cardinal Mooney) scored her first goal of the season and it was unassisted for a 2-0 lead.
The B-W defense was outstanding as the Pioneers had 11 shots but only five shot on-goal in the game.
In goal, Yellow Jacket senior three-time All-OAC player Michelle Neff (Strongsville) faced all 11 shots and had five saves as she recorded her seventh shutout this season and the 21st of her brilliant four-year career. Neff is second on B-W’s all-time list for shutouts.
The B-W women continue OAC play on Wednesday, October 17 when they host third place Otterbein College at The George Finnie Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
