BEREA, OHIO --- Junior midfielder Allie Wojtkun (North Olmsted/Magnificat) scored a hat-trick as the Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team defeated Hiram College, 3-1, tonight (Wednesday, September 19, 2007) at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea.
With the win the Yellow Jackets improve to 5-3 overall and with the loss the Terriers fall to 5-2.
B-W won the battle of shots, 14-4, but lost corners, 3-2
In the first half, Wojtkun scored her first goal off an assist from freshman midfielder Linsey Clapacs (Willoughby Hills/South) at the 3:53 mark. Wojtkun then scored her second goal at the 12:40 mark off a free-kick. Then at the 19:29 mark Wojtkun completed the hat-trick when she scored on a break away off an assist from Clapacs and sophomore midfielder Stephanie Geiger (Berea). B-W went into intermission with a 3-0 lead.
In the second half, Hiram got on the board at the 82:30 mark on an own goal.
In goal senior Michelle Neff (Strongsville) played 87:25 and recored two saves and freshman Joanna Olson (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown) played the final 2:32 of action.
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday (Sept. 22) when they travel to New Wilmington, Pennsylvania to play Westminster (Pa.) College at 1:00 p.m.
