BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women’s soccer team ended a brief two-game winning streak when it lost today (Wednesday, September 26, 2007) to Grove City College, 1-0, in Grove City Pennsylvania.
With its loss, B-W is now 6-4 overall and begins 2007 Ohio Athletic Conference play this Saturday, Sept. 29 when it travels to Alliance, Ohio to play Mount Union College at 4:30 p.m. in the first game of a women’s and men’s doubleheader at Mt. Union Stadium. With their win, the Wolverines improved to 8-0-1.
Despite the loss, the Yellow Jackets outshot the Wolverines, 15-13, including 7-6 in the first half and 8-7 in the second stanza. B-W also outcorner-kicked Grove City, 8-5. Grove City scored the winning goal at the 22:48 mark when Michelle Peck scored with an assist by Bethany Peck.
In goal for B-W, senior three-time All-OAC netminder Michelle Neff (Strongsville) faced 13 shots, including nine on goal. She was credited with making 10 saves.
Following the women’s game at Mt. Union, the B-W men, 5-3-1 overall, will play the Purople Raider men at 7:00 p.m. The B-W women continue OAC play on Wednesday, October 3 when they host Greater Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University at The George Finnie Stadium at 7:00 p.m.
