Baldwin-Wallace College Women's Soccer Team Defeats Capital University, 3-2, in OAC Action

BEREA, OHIO -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Capital University, 2-1 today (Saturday, October 6, 2007) at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea.

With the win the Yellow Jackets improve to 8-4-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.  With the loss the Crusaders fall to 7-4-1 overall and 2-1 in the OAC.

Capital won the battle of shots, 22-7and corners, 4-2.

In the first half, the two teams played to a scoreless, 0-0, tie at intermission.

In the second half, B-W took a 1-0 lead at the 48:53 mark when freshman midfielder Linsey Clapacs (Willoughby Hills/South) scored on a header off an assist from junior midfielder Maddy Davis (Hudson).  Capital tied the score at 1-1 when Natasha Ballard scored off an assist from Molly Shiels at the 77:10 mark.  Then Capital took a 2-1 lead at the 78:55 mark when Katie Robinson found the back of the net.  The Yellow Jackets tied the score at 2-2 when junior midfielder Allie Wojtkun (North Olmsted/Magnificat) scored on a free kick at the 85:32.  Then Clapacs scored at the  86:20mark to give B-W the 3-2 win.

In goal, Yellow Jacket senior three-time All-OAC player Michelle Neff (Strongsville) played all 90 minutes recording 11 saves and allowed two goals.

The Yellow Jackets continue OAC play on Tuesday (Oct. 9) when they host Heidelberg College at 7:00 p.m. at Finnie Stadium in Berea.
