Baldwin-Wallace College Women's Soccer Team Beats Muskingum, 2-1, for Third Straight 10-Win Season

BEREA, OHIO --  The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference rival Muskingum College, 2-1, today (Saturday, October 21) in New Concord.  With its victory, the Yellow Jacket women have now won 10 or more games for three straight years.

In victory, B-W improves to 10-6 overall and 4-3 in the OAC. The Yellow Jackets have a 33-21-4 record the past three seasons and next play on Wednesday, Oct. 25 when they host Ohio Northern University at The George Finnie Stadium at 7:00 p.m.  With its loss, Muskingum falls to 4-13 overall and 1-5 in the OAC.

The Muskies opened the scoring at the 10:00 minute mark when Elizabeth Pittner scored to give them an early, 1-0, lead. It was the only goal of the first half.

The Yellow Jackets awnsered late in the second half when senior three-time All-OAC striker Jenny Miller (North Ridgeville) scored an unassisted goal at the 76-minute mark to tie the game at 1-1. The goal was the 35th of Miller's career and moved her into third place on the all-time goal-scoring list.

Then, six minutes later, Miller gave the Yellow Jackets a 2-1 lead with the game-winner at the 82- minute mark when she completed her second unassisted goal of the game.  It was the 36th of her career and now gives her 95 career points.

In goal, junior 2005 OAC Goalie of the Year Michelle Neff (Strongsville) allowed one goal, faced seven shots and made five saves.

Following its game against ONU on Oct. 25, B-W will end the OAC regular season at home on Saturday, Oct. 28 against Wilmington College at 7:00 p.m. at Finnie Stadium.  The 2006 OAC Tournament begins on Tuesday, Oct. 31 with the OAC Championship Game on Saturday, Nov. 4. The winner of the OAC Tournament receives an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
