B-W: Baldwin-Wallace College Women's Soccer Team Defeats Heidelberg College, 3-0

BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team won its third Ohio Atheltic Conference game of the season today, (Wednesday, October 11, 2006) when it defeated Heidelberg College, 3-0, at Mayer Field in Tiffin. The game was delayed twice because of lightning.

With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 9-4 overall and 3-1 in the OAC. With its loss, Heidelberg falls to 3-10 overall and 0-3 in the OAC.

The Yellow Jackets got on the scoreboard first when junior forward Whitney Zunic (Canfield) scored on an assist from senior defender Melissa Herd (Stow) at the 21:20 mark. B-W increased its lead to 2-0 in 27:12 minute as senior forward Jenny Miller (North Ridgeville) cashed in on a penalty kick. The Yellow Jackets maintained their 2-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, freshman midfielder Stephanie Geiger (Berea) scored the final tally of the game on a Herd assist at the 68:03 mark

B-W dominated the contest and out shot the Student Princes, 24-6, and shut out the opposition in corner kicks, 6-3.

In goal, junior Michelle Neff (Strongsville) and McKenzie Stewart (Pickerinton/Central) combined for the shoutout. Neff had two saves in 81:15 of action.

TheYellow Jackets are back in action this Saturday (October 14) at Marietta College for a men's and women's doubleheader. The women play the Pioneer women at 1:00 p.m. and the men's game will kickoff 20 minutes following the conclusion of the women's contest.
