BEREA, OHIO — The Baldwin-Wallace College women’s soccer team defeated the Wolverines of Grove City College, 2-0, tonight (Sept. 26) at The George Finnie Stadium in Berea.
With the win, the Yellow Jacket women are now 6-3-0 overall. With its loss, Grove City drops to 6-3-0 overall.
In the first half, B-W dominated the half, outshooting the Wolverines, 13-2,but were unable to score.
The second half began like the first, with no one being able to break the deadlock. Finally, in the 81st minute, freshman midfielder Stephanie Geiger (Berea) followed up a corner kick from senior forward Jen Miller (North Ridgeville) to give the Yellow Jackets the slim 1-0 advantage. B-W got the insurance tally they needed at the 89:14 mark of the second half as freshman forward Courtney Brown (Canton/St. Thomas Aquinas) passed the ball to Miller inside the pentaly area and Miller found the net to give the Yellow Jacket a 2-0 lead.
Junior goalkeeper Michelle Neff (Stongsville) played all eighty minutes, got the win and the
shutout on three saves.
The next Yellow Jacket women's soccer game is on Saturday, Sept. 30 as they open up Ohio Athletic Conference play when they host Mount Union College. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
