BEREA, OHIO -– Two Baldwin-Wallace College women’s soccer student-athletes have been named to the 2011 Ohio Soccer Coaches Association (OSCA) Division III All-Ohio team.

Junior midfielder Lindsey Cooper (Westerville/ New Albany) was selected to the second-team and sophomore defender Liz Helser (Fort Wayne, Ind./ Canterbury) is a member of the third-team. Both Cooper and Helser are earning their first OSCA accolade.

Cooper, who transferred from NCAA Division I High Point (N.C.) University in 2009, carries a 3.3 grade point average in pre-physical therapy. This season, she finished second on the team in scoring with 14 points on career and team-best six goals and two assists.  She was first on the team with three game-winning goals, shots with 51 and shots on-goal with 21. In addition, Cooper was named as a third-team Divison III All-Great Lakes Region selection by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), a second-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer and to the Academic All-OAC squad. She is a two-time All-OAC selection.

Helser, an early childhood and special education major, anchored a defense that recorded seven shutouts and allowed just 1.23 goals per game.  She has been a two-year starter and letterwinner and has been a second-team All-OAC and third-team All-Ohio selection each of her first two seasons as a Yellow Jacket. In addition, Helser recorded her best offensive season with a career-best two goals and one assist for five points.

“We are pleased for both Lindsay and Liz,” said 10th-year Head Coach Reid Ayers. “They are leaders in the classroom, on the field and on campus. Lindsay and Liz serve as a strong role model for all of our younger student-athletes.

“They both are extremely hard-working young women who consistently give our team the best chance to be successful,” continued Ayers.  “It is nice to see that they are being rewarded for being both very good individual student-athletes and for their team effort.”

Cooper and Helser helped to lead the Yellow Jackets to an 11-9 overall record and an OAC Tournament appearence.
