Two Baldwin-Wallace College Student-Athletes are Named as OAC Players-of-the-Week

BEREA, OHIO -- Two Baldwin-Wallace College student-athletes, junior cross country/ track distance runner Ashley Scullion (Kentwood, Michigan/ East Kentwood) and junior women’s soccer forward/ midfielder Allie Wojtkun (North Olmsted/ Magnificat), were both selected as Ohio Athletic Conference players-of-the-week.
       
For Scullion, who was named as the Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, it is the 10th time in her career and third time this fall that she has been so honored. This is Wojtkun’s first OAC player-of-the-week accolade.
       
Scullion was named as the OAC Runner of the Week the first week this fall but she did not run during the second week of the season due to an injury. She then earned the honor again last week as well as this week. The latest honor was for her second place individual finish at the Cedarville (Ohio) College Meet as she completed the 5K course in 18:44 overall.  Scullion was named as the OAC Runner of the Week seven times during the 2006-2007 school year.  She was tabbed three times last fall in cross country, three more times in indoor track and once outdoors.
       
Scullion and the cross country team is idle this weekend and returns to action on Friday, October 5 when it will compete at the Division III All-Ohio Championship Meet at the Methodist Seminary at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio at 1:00 p.m.
       
Wojtkun, an All-OAC selection last season, earned her accolade for scoring three goals and adding a pair of assists for eight points in a pair of Yellow Jacket victories last week. She had her first career hat-trick (three goals, all in the first half) in a 3-1 victory against Hiram College at The George Finnie Stadium on Wednesday (Sept. 19) and then assisted on both B-W goals in a 2-0 win at Westminster (Pa.) College last Saturday (Sept. 22).
       
Wojtkun and the B-W women are back in action on Wednesday (Sept. 26) when they travel to New Wilmington, Pa. to play Westminster College at 4:00 p.m.
