The Yellow Jacket men’s team finished its season with a 9-6-4 overall record and was represented by Alexander on the first-team and junior forward Cory Kovach (Chagrin Fall/ Kenston), senior midfielder Bryce Sylvester (Rocky River) and senior forward Brian Sugerman (Akron/ Richfield Revere) on the second-team.
The women’s team ended its season with an 11-6-3 overall record was represented by Neff and sophomore defender Stephanie Geiger (Berea) on the first-team and by junior forward Allie Wojtkun (North Olmsted/ Magnificat) and freshman forward Linsey Clapacs (Willoughby/ South) on the second-team.
Alexander ended an outstanding four-year career as a three-time All-OAC and two-time Academic All-OAC selection. He helped the Yellow Jacket men win 50 matches, including 32 by shutout. Individually, he scored 14 goals and added six assists for 34 career points. This season, Alexander had four goals and two assists for 10 points, including a game-tying goal and a game-winning goal on the final week of the season. He also is a two-time ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District IV student-athlete.
Neff led the Yellow Jackets to 44 wins the past four seasons, including 33 total and 24 individual shutouts to rank second all-time in school history. This season, Neff allowed just 0.82 goals per game and had 122 saves enroute to a single-season school-record 10 shutouts. The two-time All-OAC goalie and two-time OAC Goalie of the Year ended her career with a 1.13 goal-against-average and 428 saves.
Geiger had her second straight solid season as she moved from offense to defense. She played center fullback and was a force in front of Neff aand a key in the Jackets recording 10 shutouts. Offensively, Geiger scored two goals and added an assist for five points.
Sugerman and Sylvester are both making their second appearance on the All-OAC team and Kovach is making it for the first time. Sugerman ended a strong four-year career and had his best season as he led the Yellow Jackets with nine goals and four assists for 22 points. He also was named as aan OAC Player of the Week on September 4. For his career, Sugerman scored 23 goals and had 12 assist for 58 points. Sylvester also had a strong final season as he scored two goals and had a team-high-tying four assists for 10 points. He ended his career with seven goals and eight assists for 22 points and also was an Academic All-OAC and two-time ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-District IV selection. This season, Kovach had a goal and two assists for four points.
Both Wojtkun and Clapacs were the key offense players on the women’s squad. Wojtkun earned All-OAC accolades for the second straight year as she scored seven goals and added four assists for 18 points. She also was named as an OAC Player of the Week on Sept. 24. In addition, Wojtkun earned ESPN THE MAGAZINE first-team Academic All-District IV honors and is currently listed on the 2007 ESPN THE MAGAZINE Academic All-America ballot. Clapacs had nine goals and four assists to lead the team in scoring with 22 points.
