Yellow Jacket Women End Season, and the Program's Future Remains Very Bright

FINAL 19-Match Women's Soccer Season Statistics and Match Scores | 2008 Player Career Statistics

BEREA, OHIO --  The Baldwin-Wallace College women's soccer team ended its 2008-2009 season with a 7-9-3 overall record. The program will lose two outstanding senior leaders, midfielder Allie Wojtkun (North Olmsted/ Magnificat) and forward Maddy Davis (Hudson), to graduation, but seventh-year Head Coach Reid Ayers will return the bulk of a very young and talented team which brings great hope for the future.

"We will obviously miss both Allie and Maddy," said Ayers, who has won 74 matches as the women's coach and 79 more as men's coach for 153 career victories. "Both Allie and Maddy are outstanding students in the classroom and on the soccer field. They are talented in many ways and we will miss them a great deal.

"On the other side of the coin, we've got a very talented group of student-athletes who gained more valuable experience this season," said Ayers. "As a coaching staff, we feel that the experience each player gained this season combined with a strong offseason program of play and conditioning will make us an excellent team next fall."

Wojtkun led the team in scoring with four goals and one assist for nine points. Junior forward Natalie Fox (Canfield) and freshman and sister Noelle Fox (Canfield) were second and third, respectively, with eight and seven points, respectively. In goal, sophomore Becky Miner (Berea) played in all 19 matches, allowed 1.37 goals-per-game with an .821 save percentage, 124 saves and five shutouts.
