Week for Second Time This Year
BEREA, OHIO -- For the second time this season and second time in the past three weeks, Baldwin-Wallace College 141-pound wrestler Sayre Wuhr (Hudson High School) has been named as the Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week. Wuhr earned the honor for his efforts in last Tuesday's 23-19 dual match victory at Muskingum and for his 4-0 mark and individual title at last weekend's Elmhurst (Ill.) Cllege Tournament.
For the week, Wuhr was a perfect 5-0 and improved his seasonal record to 18-5 with 10 straight victories. Against Muskingum, Wuhr helped theYellow Jackets to improve to 6-3 overall and a perfect 3-0 in the OAC by beating Muskingum and his opponent, Emmitt Jones by technical fall. At the Elmhurst Al, Hanke Invitatiinal Tournament, Wuhr had two wins by decision, one by major decision and another by technical fall. Overall, Wuhr dominated all five opponents last week.
Three weeks ago, Wuhr was tabbed as the OAC Co-Wrestler of the Week when he had a 4-0 record at the Division III National Dual Match Championships in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and at Lycoming College. In addition, Wuhr has beaten an opponent from OAC foe Wilmington College in a 22-12 B-W win for his five additional victories.
The Yellow Jackets return to the mat tomorrow night (Tuesday, February 3) when they host OAC and Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University at 7:30 p.m. in the Rudolph Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea.
